The .OFC file extension identifies with Open Financial Connectivity Files which are in turn, associated with the software for financial transaction that most often than not contains sensitive data. These files can still be opened and accessed by a number of financial applications even though this file is no longer used as it was replaced by the file extension .OFX. This then makes is inaccessible to Microsoft Money 2005 and the newer versions of the application but are used by earlier versions. This format is thus an obsolete file format.
The file extension is a data format for finances that was developed by the Microsoft Corporation as an open format to be used to exchange data with other programs that are financially based. The Reilly Technologies Moneydance is the only software that can be used to open this extension on Macintosh and Linux operating systems. The Microsoft Money application can only be used on the Windows operating systems but only Microsoft Money 2004 and earlier versions can access the file extension .OFC as the newer versions use the file extension .OFX.
